Gaelle Pelchauds’ poetic reveries depict nature in a nostalgic yet realistic way. Her images portray nature and especially birds as beautiful but transient. “As a child I loved the stories of Nils Holgersson and his travels with the geese. Birds have always represented both strength and vulnerability for me.”

Gaëlle lives and works in Paris. She has a doctorate in Plastic Arts and Art Sciences at the University of Paris Pantheon, Sorbonne. She created her first artist’s book in 1992 and has published over 60 books since then. Currently she has been painting birds and flowers in a series, embodied in the form of small artist’s books.

Gaëlle has been working in residencies around the world. She translates the memories of her travels into drawings and paintings. In Ii she is experiencing Nordic nature and creating images of birds like swans, cranes and woodpeckers.

Gaëlles’ aquarel paintings and art books will be shown in the KulttuuriKauppila Gallery 19th to 23rd September. Opening with artist present Wed 20th September at 6 pm. Welcome!
