Alberto Pina (ESP) 11-12/2018

Alberto Pina was inspired by the Finnish forest!

Alberto Pina is a Greek visual artist who lives and works in Spain. His artworks reflect his interest and his strong connection to nature. He graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid, majoring in engraving, but along with etching, charcoal-watercolour techniques are also used in his artworks. His portraits, still-lifes and landscapes are realistic and sometimes even melancholic, with a thoughtful and personal touch.

During his two-month period at the residence, Alberto Pina continued to research the relationship between the modern city and nature. He has noticed that the rivers, mountains and forests which were previously the centre of life are nowadays displaced by the urban landscape. Alberto Pina’s charcoal-watercolour forest-themed artworks were presented at the exhibition A Place in the Forest in KulttuuriKauppila’s exhibition space. The Spanish Embassy in Finland promoted Alberto Pina’s stay at the KulttuuriKauppila residence and the visit was part of a collaboration with THE HUG Platform for Cultural Cooperation.
