Composer and sound artist Ilpo Jauhiainen is working on a long term music and sound art project that deals with forests.

Ilpo Jauhiainen is a composer, sound artist, music producer and writer. He has studied electroacoustic composition, music technology and sound design in London, and sound art, new media and algorithmic composition in Helsinki and Saarbrücken.

He has produced compositions and sound pieces for performance art, films and new media, soundscapes for interdisciplinary art exhibitions as well as created public sound installations. His works have been shown or rather heard world wide. Ilpo lives and works in/from Paris and Helsinki.

Ilpos’ work examines the aestethics of music and sound in relation to ecology, globalization, urbanism, possible worlds, and the future society.All these themes he will also ponder in his doctoral research for the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, Belgium.

In Ii Ilpo is working on a long term music and sound art project that deals with forests. He will be dwelling into AI generated sound art, localism, and the musical poetry of the environment. He will also be creating a site-specific musical performance that draws its inspiration from the local environment and soundscape. This piece called Siinto was performed as part of the program of Evenings of Art & Culture in Ii, KulttuuriKauppila thursday August 15th.
