Belarusian curator-sound artist duo Anlok and KatsiaKaya have come to Ii to work with their ongoing project: a well-being and resilience artistic collective “DoLess”. In their work, they seek to enlighten the concept of care related to artistic work and focus on activism, human rights and artists living in exile.
‘Our radical proposal is to dive into the revolution of kindness to jointly regulate the stress of our nervous systems.’
“Everyday small practices and finding ways to work together create well-being in a society. Caring human interaction can have the power to change people’s lives and it can help fight violence and repression.”
Coming from Belarus, where democratic values and freedom of speech are at risk, Ana and Katya wish to use participatory methods to discuss art, society and well-being with the good people of the communities in Ii and Oulu. They are also processing long-term co-operation projects with art organizations and artist colleagues in Finland.
During they stay in Ii Ana and Katya will arrange a series of social events, starting with a community ‘art’ dinner at KulttuuriKauppila Friday 12th May from 2 pm.
There will be a meeting of the artists and a collaborative outdoor performance on Saturday 27th May from 2 pm in Lähde! –park.
