Eda Öz Celkbas is a practising art therapist and researcher working with human wellbeing through art based methods. She is especially interested in ecological practises and recycled materials. She explores and practises ancient methods of healing and self-expression. Her method combines art-based activities, reflecting ones’ thoughts and emotions and acknowledging the forces (of nature) around us.
Eda has been working in the field of Art and Therapy since 2012. She has been studying John Dewey and Carl Gustav Jung and uses study of symbols, imagination and semiotics in her work. Ecological Art Therapy means using colours and materials from nature and cycling materials, ie. paints and papers .
“For me Art Therapy means inspecting your imagination, your feelings and growing self-knowledge and self-compassion. By searching your inner self and expressing your creativity, we all can become more whole as humans.”
Eda has been interested in the Nordic countries for some time; she admires our wellbeing societies and our education systems.
Eda Öz Celikbas’ Showroom is open in the KulttuuriKauppila Gallery from 20th to 25th July. As part of the showroom, there will be two art therapy workshops: Monday 24th July at 6pm and Tuesday 25th July at 6 pm. The sessions include making your own art journals, drawing and discussing.
