KulttuuriKauppila Art Centre is starting a project to build an international innovation network of artist residencies in Northern Ostrobothnia (KRIPA). The focus of KRIPA is to strengthen the creative potential of rural area cultural production and to increase the possibilities of employment of artists and the livelihood of creative production. The global dimension of the network is built around an arctic gateway for artists, enabling exchange of artists, art production and ideas. The project will create new innovations around artistic and cultural production which gain from the uniqueness of Finnish nature, the hidden potential of rural areas and the global community of artists and art experts.
The executive parties of the project are KulttuuriKauppila Art Centre in Ii (Municipality of Ii), Kuusamo College Support Association and the City of Raahe. Ii will be responsible for building the international network and the applied learning programme for the participants. Kuusamo will be creating a hub for nature tourism –based activities and Raahe will be constructing a production residency in a historical area in Raahe.
The project will be executed taking into consideration the global pandemic situation and the ecological issues of travelling and other activities.

The project manager should be an expert of art and cultural production, who can see the big picture and build a large network of connections. S/he should be able to grasp national and international structures of cultural production and creative businesses and see the potential of northern rural area in a global context.
We expect you to have an attitude to develop and the capacities to work independently, organise and communicate effectively. We appreciate knowledge and experience in creative production and organising international co-operation. We hope that you can handle pressure, are a good negotiator and that you have a vision about developing international artist residencies activities and creative production.
The project manager will be working in and from Ii, Northern Finland at KulttuuriKauppila Art Centre. The project is directed towards a vast area in Northern Finland and has a strong international dimension. The period of the position is 1.9.2020-31.12.2022. The competence requirements are an applicable academic degree and experience in comparable tasks. Fluent Finnish required. Weekly working hours are 38 h 45 min. The salary is 3500 euros / month.
