States of Winter

The exhibition ”States of Winter” at Kulttuuri Kauppila Art Centre presents works from the project ”Whiteout”, developed in KKAir, Artist in Residency in Ii, Finland and other nordic countries.

”States of Winter” is an installation of papercuttings inspired from the winter in the surrounding finnish landscape. The papercuttings are formed as a imaginary state of water in its different frozen states.

In the serie ”Whiteout” white paper cuttings are staged, photographed and filmed in the white nordic winter landscapes. The winter has it`s own value and distinctive relation to the culturel life of the nordic countries. We also share a common reality of a changing temperatures in wintertime.

The exhibition will also show work made in Mustarinda Residency, Finland, in Kunstnarhuset Messen Norway, in Sim Residency, Iceland.

Opening on friday 23.3. include an Artist Talk by Maja Ingerslev at 17-18 o`clock and the opening party at 18 -19 o`clock at the KulttuuriKauppila.

The exhibition will be open 24.- 29.3. at Saturday – Sunday 11-15 o`clock. Monday –  Thursday 13 – 18 o`clock. Free entrance! Welcome!

The exhibition is part of the AIB premilinary program and supported By Nordic Culture Point, Mobility Programme.

Maja Ingerslev is a visual artist, based in Aarhus, Denmark. She is educated at The Jutland Academi of Art in 1997- 2002. She works with staged photography, video and papercut installations. The work reflects on the themes of nature and culture, visibility and disappearance, imagination and reality, death and creation. The subtle work investigate our relation to nature and perception of nature. The work set focus on the poetic value of nature in a time with changes in nature due to changes in climate.
