The new cultural producer of Art Ii Biennial Annika Ryhänen M.A. is an art educator and Master of Arts faring from the city of Oulu. Earlier she has worked in the field of art, education, community and culture as a teacher and tutor at several different organizations and schools. When creating and executing activities, she finds it essential to focus on creating meaningful experiences within the context of one’s own cultural identity through the methods of art, game and media education.
“I believe trying to define art and its values is secondary in communal operation. An ideal atmosphere for creativity and creative activities would be such that enables people to pursue something that has a deep, purposeful impact on their own personal lives. It is then that the activity develops into an ingrained part of their lives and futures, not to be considered just art for art’s sake.”
The role of a cultural producer in Art Ii Biennial is to manage the production of the program composed by local communities as a part of the production team and in co-operation with the curators.
