KulttuuriKauppila Art Centre works to enable and produce art of high professional quality in northern Finland and, through interaction, to establish international connections in the field of art in this region.
The key functions at KulttuuriKauppila include the international artist residence program, the Art Ii Biennale and Valto Pernu Photo Marathon. Kulttuurikauppila also maintains the Environmental Art Park. It strives to develop artists’ skills and participates in the construction of international art networks, and it even
produces an international art education programme for schools in the town of Ii. KulttuuriKauppila participates in making cultural policy on a practical level and believes that creativity is a key to wellbeing on both the individual and collective levels in this lively region.
KulttuuriKauppila artists' residencies make international art available for the Ii village community. The residency program offers to artists not only networks but also space and peace to carry out their creative work.
